About Dr Sukhwinder Singh Khaira

My journey in the medical field has been both challenging and rewarding. In 2007, while serving as a senior medical officer at SIS Medical Institute and Hospital in Kurukshetra, I took a stand against female foeticide, and started spreading awareness to stop it. One day when I was in O.P.D. and suddenly some people came inside and threw acid on me since I was working against them and had collected evidence to show their real face to the world.  that resulted in the loss of my vision and severe burns. Despite this adversity, my resolve to make a difference only grew stronger.

In 2010, I discovered a new path at the National Institute for Empowerment of Persons with Visual Disabilities (NIEPVD), Dehradun. Here, I not only found a community that supported my rehabilitation but also reignited my passion for medicine and teaching. I completed various certifications, including in Computer Operator and Programming Assistant and Radio Broadcasting Journalism. In 2013, I earned the Master Trainer designation from Tsukuba University, Tokyo, and was later honored with the NIEPVD Excellence Award in 2016 by the Governor of Uttarakhand.

Since 2014, I have been the head of the JMMT department at NIEPVD, where I teach and guide both first and final-year students. My experiences have instilled a profound commitment to supporting and empowering visually impaired individuals, ensuring they too can lead lives of independence and fulfillment.

Join me in embracing the possibilities of health and wellness through our expert services in physiotherapy, moxa therapy, and more, each designed to enhance your life’s quality and mobility.

Odisha Natural Disaster

Many years have passed since that dreadful day but the nightmare of the whirlwind disaster still haunts the people of Odisha. On 29th October 1999 Odisha experienced its worst ever natural disaster in terms of human and public asset loss. The cyclone resulted in the death of about 10,000 people and injury to many thousands. That time I and some of my friends decided to support the families of elderly people with relief and medical attention to the disease.

The government sent us to arrange food, drinking water, clothes, medical facilities, and tents, and also cremated the dead bodies. We covered Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, Paradweep, and Bhubaneswar with our relief camp in Odisha.

Earthquake in Kutch

The powerful earthquake that struck the Kutch area in Gujarat at 8:46 am on 26 January 2001 has been the most damaging earthquake in the last five decades in India. The M7.9 quake caused a large loss of life and property. We covered Gandhidham, Bhuj, Anjal, Rapar and Mandwi in Gujarat.

We initially served our needy brothers and sisters at Gujarat during the earthquake by providing them with boarding and lodging for three months. We provided them food, clothes, medicines, etc., and arranged for cremation. We helped the needy with the assistance of local people of Punjab and government aid.
